Murale Gopinathan serves as the President and is a founding member of the Consortium for Sustainable Development. In this role, he leads CSD’s effort and commitment to foster sustainable social and economic well-being of people around the globe. He is passionate about being part of the team that is shaping a sustainable future for the world.

With a background in engineering, Murale has worked in the energy sector for over four decades. His expertise includes System Planning, Electric Transmission and Distribution, Wholesale Power Marketing, Grid Modernization, and Renewable Energy. He is part of the management team that is shaping the Grid Modernization for the largest utility in New England.

He is an ardent advocate for diversity and inclusion, as well as environmental justice and equity. He served as the chairman of the Diversity Council and presently serves as the co-chair for one of the Diversity and Inclusion groups for Eversource Energy. His advocacy and contributions helped the company to become a leader in diversity, social justice, and equity.

Murale earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in India and a master’s degree in Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is presently pursuing a program in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy at Yale University. A member of Mensa International, he also holds a PhD in Management.
